 केन्द्रीय विद्यालय, मीनम्बाक्कम- व्याकरण -2 -भूतकाल - Past tense 

                                  Model sentences 

मैं खा रहा था। -            I was eating (M)

मैं खा रही थी। -            I was eating (F) 

मैं ने  खाना खाया। --     I ate (M)

तुम खा रहे थे । -          You were eating (M)

तुम खा रही थी -           You were eating (F) 

तुम ने खाना खाया । -    You ate food 

वह खा रहा था। -         He was eating .(M ) -Any masculine noun

वह खा रही थी ।          She was eating. (F)

उसने खाना खाया। -     He ate food -M/F

यह खा रहा था। -        This (boy) was eating. -Any masculine noun  

यह खा रही थी।           This(Girl) was eating. -Any feminine noun 

इसने खाना खाया।        He/She ate food.

वे खा रहे थे। -             They were eating. (M)

वे खा रही थी। -           They were eating (F) 

उन्होन्ने  खाना खाया।     They ate( M/F)

 ये खा रहे थे।              These ( people ) were eating . (M) 

ये खा रही थी।              These (people ) were eating. (F) 

इन्होन्ने खाना खाया।      These (people)  all ate. 

हम खा रहे थे ।            We were eating (M) 

हम खा रही थी।           We were eating (F) 

हमने खाना खाया।       We ate (M/F) 

आप खा रहे थे ।          You were eating . (M)

आप खा रही थी ।         You were eating. (F) 

आप ने खाना खाया।      You ate (M/F) 

Note:-  When you use ने in the past tense the verb depends upon the object not subject. मैं, तुम ,लड़का आदि -subject . Add ने only with the subject. 

 Ex:-  मैं ने रोटी खाई। (मैं - लड़का या लड़की ) -Roti is object. 

         तुम ने चावल खाया । ( तुम - May be masculine or feminine) -चावल -object. 

         उसने चार रोटियाँ खायीं ( He ate four roties . - Since four roties 

          verb should be plural . )

  For some words like ला,बोल, भूल ,सक, चुक ,मिल, पहुँच   - ने -should not be used. --- You can use any root  word in the above way.
